Our client will be delivering a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in the region, and as such, is looking to strengthen their SHEQ Team with a Health & Safety advisor supporting them on the Southern Water Framework.

Based on site and reporting to the Health & Safety Operations Lead, the ideal candidate will undertake monthly Site Safety Environmental Reviews (SSER) on projects in line with the SSER Schedule, while covering Health and Safety and environmental aspects of the project.

Duties will include:

  • Work closely with the SHE Team and delivery teams to support the wider JV
  • Liaise with client safety and Health Advisors whilst participating in Client Initiatives
  • Support ESD Centralised inductions as and when required
  • Support Delivery Operations Manager as and when required
  • Incident investigations
  • Willingness to go above and beyond
  • Liaise across disciplines as and when required, providing H&S advice to all levels of staff
  • Prepare SSER reports and ensure action items are closed out on active SHE
  • Review High Risk Activities, Risk assessments and Method Statements
  • Review and sign off Site Documentation for each project
  • Contribute to Health and Safety annual action plans with the Health & Safety Manager
  • Identify Health and Safety training needs and develop and deliver training as required
  • Further develop and maintain H&S Management systems
  • Willing to travel and stay overnight as necessary
Experience required:

  • NEBOSH or National General Certificate or working towards
  • 5+ years’ experience within water, construction, civil engineering, or utility sectors
  • Excellent understanding of Health and Safety and implementation of control measures
  • Understanding of industry best practice
  • Experience liaising with management and client personnel
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages
  • Commercially aware and self-motivated
  • Driving license required
  • Excellent communication skills
